Ingredients
Scale
- 1/4 cup Sugar-Free Blueberry Syrup: You can find sugar-free blueberry syrups at most grocery stores or online, or make your own using a simple recipe (see instructions below).
- 1 cup Sparkling Water: For the bubbles! You can use plain sparkling water, or opt for flavored sparkling water for an added twist.
- 1/4 cup Heavy Cream: This gives the soda that rich, creamy texture. If you want a lighter version, you can substitute with half-and-half or even coconut milk for a dairy-free alternative.
- Ice: For serving. Feel free to adjust the amount based on how cold and refreshing you like your drinks.
- Optional Garnish: Fresh blueberries or a sprig of mint for a cute garnish to make the drink extra special!
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Blueberry Syrup (if you’re not using store-bought)
If you’re making your own sugar-free blueberry syrup (which I highly recommend for that fresh, homemade flavor), it’s incredibly simple! Here’s how to do it:
- In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of fresh or frozen blueberries with 1/4 cup of water.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until the blueberries start to break down and release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once the berries have softened, add 1-2 tablespoons of your preferred sugar substitute (I love using Stevia or Erythritol for a clean, no-sugar option).
- Stir everything together until the sweetener dissolves, and let it simmer for another 5 minutes. If you prefer a thicker syrup, continue simmering until it reduces to your desired consistency.
- Remove the syrup from heat and strain it through a fine mesh sieve to remove any skins or pulp, leaving you with a smooth, blueberry syrup.
- Set the syrup aside to cool—once it’s ready, you’ll have that gorgeous sugar-free blueberry syrup to mix into your soda!
Step 2: Prepare the Glasses
- Fill two glasses with ice cubes—use as much or as little as you like. I personally prefer a lot of ice to keep the drink super cold and refreshing.
Step 3: Add the Blueberry Syrup
- Pour 2 tablespoons of your sugar-free blueberry syrup into each glass, over the ice. This is where the magic starts to happen! You’ll see the gorgeous, deep blueberry color filling your glass, and it smells amazing already.
Step 4: Add the Sparkling Water
- Gently pour 1/2 cup of sparkling water into each glass. Watch as the bubbles start to rise and mix with the syrup. You want the water to mix well with the syrup but still keep all the bubbles intact for that effervescent fizz!
Step 5: Add the Cream
- Carefully pour 2 tablespoons of heavy cream into each glass, or more if you prefer a creamier drink. The cream will swirl beautifully through the sparkling water and syrup, creating a rich, velvety texture. Stir gently if you want a more blended effect, or leave it swirled for a pretty presentation!
Step 6: Garnish (Optional)
- For a little extra flair, garnish each drink with a few fresh blueberries or a sprig of mint. This adds a pop of color and makes the drink feel even more special.
Step 7: Enjoy!
- Take a sip and enjoy! The combination of sweet blueberry syrup, fizzy sparkling water, and smooth cream will hit every note of flavor you’re craving. It’s the perfect balance of indulgent and refreshing!
