Ingredients
Scale
Here’s what you’ll need to make this Salmon and Shrimp with Creamy Garlic Sauce:
- 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each): The rich, buttery flavor of salmon is the star of this dish.
- 1 lb shrimp (peeled and deveined): Sweet and succulent shrimp add the perfect contrast to the salmon.
- 4 cloves garlic (minced): The garlic brings the sauce to life, giving it that aromatic depth.
- 1 cup heavy cream: This is what makes the sauce so creamy and rich.
- 1/2 cup chicken broth: Adds some depth to the sauce and helps it come together smoothly.
- 2 tbsp butter: To cook the seafood and make the sauce extra silky.
- 1 tbsp olive oil: For searing the shrimp and salmon.
- Juice of 1 lemon: A fresh squeeze of lemon cuts through the richness of the sauce and brightens up the flavors.
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped): For garnish, adds a touch of color and freshness.
- Salt and pepper: To taste, for seasoning the seafood and the sauce.
Instructions
- Prepare the Seafood
Start by patting the salmon fillets and shrimp dry with paper towels. This will help them get that nice golden sear when you cook them. Season the salmon with salt and pepper on both sides. For the shrimp, season them lightly with salt and pepper as well. - Cook the Salmon
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the pan is hot, add the salmon fillets, skin-side down if they have skin. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, until the salmon is golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 145°F). Remove the salmon from the skillet and set it aside on a plate. - Cook the Shrimp
In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil if needed, and then toss in the seasoned shrimp. Cook them for about 2 minutes on each side, or until they’re pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook them. Once done, remove the shrimp from the skillet and set them aside with the salmon. - Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce
Reduce the heat to medium-low and add 2 tablespoons of butter to the same skillet. Once the butter is melted, add the minced garlic. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant—be careful not to let it burn! - Add the Liquids
Pour in the chicken broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Let it cook for about 3 minutes to reduce slightly. Then, stir in the heavy cream and lemon juice. Continue to simmer the sauce for another 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed. - Return the Seafood to the Pan
Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, gently return the salmon and shrimp to the skillet. Spoon some of the creamy garlic sauce over the seafood to coat it evenly. Let everything simmer together for 2-3 minutes to heat through and allow the flavors to meld. - Garnish and Serve
Before serving, sprinkle some fresh chopped parsley over the top for a burst of color and freshness. You can serve this dish over a bed of rice, with some roasted veggies, or even with a side of buttery mashed potatoes.
