Description
Air Fryer Chicken Bites have quickly become a go-to dish in our house! I love how easy they are to make and how perfectly crispy they turn out. The kids adore them, and I can feel good knowing they’re a healthier option compared to traditional fried chicken. Each bite is packed with flavor and pairs wonderfully with a variety of dipping sauces. Whether we’re having them as a snack or as part of a meal, these chicken bites always hit the spot!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar added)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika (smoked or regular)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, soak the chicken pieces in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes (or up to overnight in the refrigerator) to tenderize and add flavor.
- Prepare the Breading: In another bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well to combine.
- Bread the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, coating thoroughly. Shake off any excess flour.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Cook the Chicken Bites: Arrange the coated chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Spray the chicken bites lightly with cooking spray for added crispiness. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- Serve: Remove the chicken bites from the air fryer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
